Each of our Geography Mapping Activities files contains a wealth of child-friendly activity sheets and maps. The teacher's notes are fully-referenced to the National Curriculum programme of study and clearly state the learning objectives and outcomes of each activity.
As well as developing mapping skills, the Geography Mapping Activities also reinforce other geographical aspects, such as:
- understanding of places
- processes and patterns in human and physical geography
- environmental change
Our Geography Mapping Activities can be used either to complement the activities in the Geography Resource Files, or as stand-alone mapping activities for schools that have developed their own geography scheme of work.
The Years 3 & 4 file includes a pack of 15 full-colour Ordnance Survey maps of Downham Market. These maps can be used both for Unit 9: Village Settlers and for Unit 25: Geography and Numbers.
The Years 5 & 6 file includes three packs of 15 full-colour maps:
- Ordnance Survey map of the Lake District, which can be used with Unit 11: Water and Unit 15: The Mountain Environment;
- West Norfolk, which can be used with Unit 13: A Contrasting Locality
- Downham Market (town plan), which can be used with Unit 25: Geography and Numbers
Fifteen copies of each of the maps have been provided on the basis that if children share one between two, each pack comprises a class set.
