Talk About History is the first title in a brand new series of cross-curricular resources, designed to improve children’s speaking and listening through a variety of different curriculum subjects.  It closely follows the Primary National Strategy, focusing on the speaking and listening objectives as a key foundation for literacy and as an essential component of effective learning.

Talk About History helps to develop your pupils’ literacy skills, in particular the key skills of speaking and listening, in a cross-curricular way through history.

Each LCP Talk About History pack comprises:

• a teacher’s book containing medium-term plans and individual session plans, with accompanying activity sheets for the children and background notes for the teacher
• a CD containing an editable version of the teacher’s book, in Microsoft^® Word, allowing you to customise it to suit your needs. The activity sheets are ideal for projection onto a whiteboard for whole-class teaching
• a site licence is included in the price

In addition, the LCP Talk About History Key Stage 2 Years 5&6 CD features primary source material in the form of video and audio clips of people recounting their experiences and memories of life in the early part of the twentieth century.

Talk About History covers every unit in the QCA Scheme of Work for history at Key Stages 1 and 2. At the same time it focuses on the speaking and listening objectives in the Primary National Strategy. The children use a variety of group discussion and interaction techniques and drama strategies, as well as presentations. The focus is on developing listening and speaking skills, and encouraging the children to analyse these skills in their own and others’ work.
