The test was quit before completion, and the message “You have already taken this test” appears.
Recreate the test, exactly as before, but give it a different name on the final screen.
or
Open the LCPtestresults folder, which can be done by running a search either from the Windows ‘Start’ button, or by clicking the ‘My computer’ icon (the folder is most usually stored on the school’s network drive).
- Double click the 2004-05 folder inside the LCPtestresults folder
- Double click the relevant year group. (This brings up a list of all classes in that year group)
- Double click the relevant class for the ‘already taken test’ pupil
- Double click Science (this lists all the tests that particular class has done/is doing or is scheduled to take)
- Double click the yellow folder for the test unit (inside this are files labeled with all the pupils’ ID numbers)
- Check the pupil ID file for the ‘already taken test’ child (this file should be empty)
- Delete the empty ID file.
You can then return to the pupil test and take the test as normal.
There is no sound (Science Assessments)
Left click once only on the icon at the start of the test, then right click on text within the test If this has no effect, then you should check your sound settings.
You are having difficulty importing pupils.
The pupils’ names should be in the format:
last name, first name, date of birth (dd/mm/yyyy)
e.g. Kerry, John, 15/02/1995
First names or surnames containing a space should be enclosed in speech marks, eg. “Wright Phillips”, Shaun, 18/12/1997
Bush, George W, 12/12/1950 would be rejected, because of the space between George and W.
Error message appears in a pupil test
Install Patch30062004.zip on each workstation (if on a network) or on each standalone machine. This can be downloaded from the Primary Science page on this site (see LCP Science Assessment Activities), or it can be emailed to you.
N.B. This Issue can be caused by an unusual pupil’s name.
“Run time error 75- permission denied” message appears
Check that pupils can gain access to the folder C:LCPhome
(Pupils are not usually given permissions for the C: drive.)
All users should have write-access.
“Run time error 76” message appears
Check the data menu in the teacher set-up to see that the relevant user has been given full control rights to these folders. These also need to be mapped for each user, preferably with the same drive name.
Not all tests are available, even though they have been installed
The most likely reason is that the units have been installed in different folders (e.g. year group folders). Locate the units and move them all into the same folder. Check that all workstations are set to look at the correct folder in the Data menu.
Also check that the workstations are all looking at the same LCPTestresults folder.
Some graphics are not showing in tests
Set the graphics to 32-bit colour: Control panel>display>settings
‘OK’ not showing in installation options box
Set Windows to small fonts: Control panel>display>settings>advanced
“Run time error 5 – invalid procedure call or argument” message appears
This may indicate an outdated student test.
Please contact us so that we can send you an updated version:

You have lost data, such as students, classes, tests scheduled.
Cause: If more than one teacher has been using the teacher set-up at any one time, this can overwrite data entered.
You have an RM CC3 network and need help installing the assessments
Please contact us: softwaresupport@LCP.co.uk; tel: 01926 886914.
You are unable to set a class to the next year (e.g. new school year)
Cause: One or more tests scheduled for the class haven’t been completed by all the pupils.
Either arrange for the pupils to take the test/s or open the ‘test’ menu in teacher set-up and
‘close’ the test. You will then be able to move the class up to the next year.
On the “type of installation” screen, the ‘ok’ and ‘cancel’ buttons don’t appear
N.B. ** Important: this requires changing system settings **
The Issue is caused by the use of ‘large fonts’. These can be changed as follows:
- Right-click on the desktop & select ‘properties’
- Click on the ‘settings’ tab at the top of the box on screen.
- Click ‘advanced’, then select ‘small fonts’ from the dropdown menu which appears.
- Also check the box to restart after changing settings.
- Click ’apply’ and ‘close’ buttons.
The computer will restart and the settings will have changed. You will then be able to install as normal.
Pupils don’t appear in test schedules even though they are in the class list.
This is because new pupils have been added since the test was first set.
Pupils who were entered are now missing
Cause
There are two possible causes:
- If more than one teacher is entering pupils into the program at the same time, it is possible that two pupils have been allocated the same ID number. This means that only one of them will appear, and the other is lost.
- The program has been installed as both network and standalone, and the data setting may have been changed.
Action - recommended to be carried out by a technician
If the second cause applies, this can be changed by opening teacher set-up, clicking on the data button, clicking ‘click to change’ on the database location and selecting the network drive.
