Let’s hear it for the boys! CD

Our Let's hear it for the boys! CD is a series of action plans to help raise boys’ achievements.

It was compiled after a great deal of research into the underachievement of boys, their preferred learning styles and the strategies that can be employed to raise motivation and build self-esteem, resulting in their improved performance and achievements.

It is based on the principle that effective teaching is the key to raising standards and that the pedagogy should focus on how we teach boys and not on what we teach them.

The CD provides a range of effective and positive strategies to help raise boys' achievements and encourage them to be successful and valued learners. It also draws upon good practice undertaken in real schools.

The lesson plans on this CD include an improved awareness of the needs of boys and contains measures concentrated towards boys' interests and preferences.

Examples are provided for early years, KS1 and KS2, all of which can be easily adapted to suit other age ranges and abilities.

There are no magic resolutions, no quick fixes that will take effect immediately, but the CD does offer clear strategies that you can adapt in your school to make a difference.
