Cathryn Kilbey is the Head Teacher at Bishops Tachbrook Church of England Primary school. As a new Head, Cathryn had the opportunity to review procedures and decided that she wanted to enhance the schools’ reporting process. Cathryn identified that insufficient detail was provided to parents and therefore, Cathryn required a solution to enhance the level of reporting to match parental expectation, without creating further workload for teachers. This was particularly relevant during the Covid Pandemic outbreak since Parent Teacher evenings were postponed under Covid restrictions.

With the assistance of Jack Maginn, Education Consultant at iTRACK Education (formerly LCP), Cathryn decided to focus on optimising one of iTRACK Pupils’ built in key features, its ‘Report Writer’ function, which could clearly show what the children could do without being too onerous on staff.

The Report Writer enables access to a Statement Bank of report comments which are available at a single click to select and insert in the report comments section. Cathryn said ‘the standardised comments build into a report that flows from section to section instead of feeling like a series of cut and pasted comments. Therefore, it is simple and easy to construct a detailed report and has the benefit of adding personalised comments where required.’

Cathryn commented that ‘Although initially some of the teaching staff found the change a little challenging, after a few reports were generated, they were ‘well into it.’ All staff have said that next year it will be even easier to use, and they are all incredibly positive about using it again.’
